Our sister archive, which is based in Bristol, has been awarded a Women’s Vote Centenary Grant to roll out a programme of events across the south-west. The Feminist Archive South (FAS) will use the grant of just over £50,000 to deliver an interlinked three-strand programme of educational workshops, digital democracy involvement, and a touring exhibition of posters held by the archive.
The educational workshops will be aimed at young people aged 16 to 30, and will draw on the archive’s materials to discover the diverse histories of feminist activism as it links to contemporary debates about gender equality. The digital democracy strand will include engaging women with FAS’s digital participatory catalogue and expanding the catalogue via face-to-face and online events, providing new opportunities for women to explore histories of feminist activism. FAS will also mount five poster exhibitions across the south-west and deliver a speaker series at each venue.
