Sheila Abdullah Collection

FAN is delighted to have added the Dr Sheila Abdullah collection to our archive. This extensive collection of papers, pamphlets and other documents was donated by her daughter, Hooda, after Sheila’s death in 2020. It is a significant addition to our records on issues of women’s reproductive rights.

Sheila was a founder member of the Women’s Liberation Movement in Merseyside in the 1970s. As a GP she contributed to the setting up and running of contraception and abortion drop-in and advice centres in Liverpool. She was a GP at Princes Park Health Centre in Liverpool, and later at Crookes Practice in Sheffield. She worked and campaigned for a woman’s right to choose, with involvement in the British Pregnancy Advisory Service, the Abortion Law Reform Association and Doctors for a Woman’s Choice in Abortion.
